"The Holiday" and "Music & Lyrics"

The holiday

I have to admit that it was my first time to watch these films when I was in the airplane.

"The Holiday". Starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law & Jack Black. I never expected that I would really like the film.

I loved how I really understood the lines because usually I don't listen when it comes to long monologues.

The part where Jude Law is in the tent with Cameron Diaz was really sweet. Jude Law was convincing in his role even though he is a douche in real life. Jude Law was hot in the film. Haha. I still don't like Cameron Diaz's acting. And it's hard for me to like her. I cried a little when they were in the tent when they held hands.

Kate Winslet & Jack Black's story is cute. I loved it because it was unusual and genuine. I was touched when Kate Winslet became one of Arthur's (played by Eli Wallach) good friends. I also cried a little when Arthur entered the auditorium filled with his admirers. I felt that the "real" love was between Iris & Arthur rather than Miles & Iris.

I was confused with some of the scenes. And I did not understand some of the stories.

Overall I just adored this movie. 7 out of 10 stars. Yet I wouldn't add this to my favorite Romantic Comedies of all time.

 

Music & lyrics

First of all, I like the music. And second of all, I like Drew Barrymore & Hugh Grant. But I didn't see any chemistry. Nor did I feel any.

 

It was a nice film. You will feel good about it. But it's highly predictable.

I was expecting to see a good film. As good as "50 First Dates" & "The Wedding Singer". You know, Drew Barrymore should stick with Adam Sandler's movies.

I loved Hugh Grant in "Notting Hill" and in "Love Actually", but in this, it just doesn't work.

I give props to where the writer was going, but I still couldn't see it.

Overall I gave this 6 out of 10 stars.

Imagine I was about to buy the DVD in the States for $16. I'm glad I didn't.

 

 

I had to compare the 2 films since I watched them both in the airplane. First "Music & Lyrics" and then "The Holiday".

I have to say that "The Holiday" is better.
